Matthew Burton

Matthew Burton believes in the power of citizen-technologists to improve our democracy, but he prefers that they stop trying to "hack government" and instead refactor it as full-time civil servants. He recently finished his second stint of federal service in Washington, where he served as Acting CIO (among other roles) at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. While there, he led over 100 civil servant-technologists in the creation of highly acclaimed digital tools and web sites.
